About bike-components

What began in 1997 as a small bike store in downtown Aachen is now a large online provider for bike lovers. The online store includes around 35,000 products — from bike components such as tires and brakes to clothing and accessories to fully equipped complete bikes.

The company works with well-known manufacturers in the bicycle industry and sells products from 340 different brands — including its established house brands. The core business is online, while the local store is mainly used for consultations and repairs. Bike-components has 300 employees and in 2019, generated revenues of around 100 million euros.

The challenge and goals

Bike-components had an in-house ERP system that was unable to support their growing needs and did not operate as expected. With the capacities of the IT team reaching their limits, a decision was made in favor of the Contentserv solution to help optimize product data management and offer opportunities for future development steps.

While efficiency and a faster time-to-market are critical for bike-components, the added value for the customer always comes first.
